Gran Canaria Holidays Guide

If you are looking for all night parties and clubs you will find them here in abundance. You will also find some more family friendly resorts available. The islands volcanic origins and location give make for a beautiful and diverse landscapes. With little rain, warm sunshine, clear blue seas and golden beaches, this location is a must for a relaxing holiday experience.

Gran Canaria Resorts

Las Plamas de Gran Canaria is the Island's capital city. Located to the North it is a very popular location to holiday in. Most of the resorts are located in the sunnier, dryer South. These include the most popular Playa del Ingles (English Beach). It is built to be all you expect in a resort with beaches, nightclubs, bars, shops and restaurants all over. The Kasbah is a must do for its nightlife. Next door is Maspalomas which is just a little further from the beaches. It is a bit cheaper and has great golf facilities. Puerto Rico is a family friendly resort just West of the others. So if you are going on with the kids, this would be a good choice.

Unique Volcanic Island Landscapes and Environments

This is the main island in the archipelago, called "the Round Island" due to its shape. Its uniqueness stems from its origins from volcanic activity. These leads to the environment being full of contrasts. Most of visitors are amazed that an area with such limited space contains such a diversity of contrasting landscapes.

Firstly, a mix of trade winds and warm air from the Sahara gives you arid desert areas. Secondly, a you will find mountains of tropical vegetation and large valleys of banana trees near river gorges. Thirdly, further up you can see mountain tops covered in snow. Addtionally its landscapes also include some impressive cliffs to the West. Finally let's not to forget there are great sandy beaches in the South and East.

Weather

With all this natural beauty comes hours and hours of glorious sunshine all year round. There is little or no rain during the summer holiday season to go with it.
