 Everything from handicrafts, lace, olive oil soap to Granadino pottery with its distinctive white background and strong blue shapes to Moroccan styled pieces of coloured hard wood decorated with bones. Unusual and authentic and many items to be found in the old Arabic Quarter - quaint cobbled stoned streets where you can explore, meander and enjoy the ambiance of an age gone by.
Opposite the old town is the famous Alhambra Palace built by the Sultans of Arabia over centuries - a creation designed to depict "heaven on earth" with gardens of running water. There are numerous monuments, churches and heritage sites but be sure to see the Royal Chapel, The Cathedral and the churches of San Jose and San Pedro y San Pablo.
Nightlife is a plenty here - centring around the Paseo de los Tristes where you will find many tapas bars and Campo del Principe where there are an abundance of restaurants.
Take a trip up to the caves of Sacromonte where you can watch the fine displays of Flamenco dancers and enjoy the local red wine.
Costa del Sol has over 70 miles of golden sandy beaches so no excuse for you not to soak up the sun and swim in the sea.
With a backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains you could even spend a day or two on the ski-slopes - available all year round.
