The ancient capital of Aragon has many worthwhile sites to see - two cathedrals - Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries and sits on the bank of the River Ebro with its Asian style and domes it towers above the city - inspired by St James who had a vision of the Virgin Mary who asked him to build the church here. Close by is the Museum del Pilar which is home to a collection of jewellery and art work by the great Goya - super ancient collection well worth viewing.
There are a number of museums worth taking a look at - Museo Camon Aznar - 23 rooms over 3 floors that are filled with fine art pieces and paintings many by the Bayeu Brothers and Goya. Museo Pablo Gargallo displays the fine sculptures of this great craftsman with some 100 original pieces.
After an afternoon of viewing, take time to enjoy a coffee break in one of the cafe bars and perhaps try one of the delicious pastries, cakes or desserts.
