The harbour and bay area is filled with beautiful yachts, the chance to go sailing and perhaps do a sea excursion around the island. If you prefer to stay on terra firma there are several tours organised by the City Council - the Jewish Quarter, The City and the Sea, Convent of the Capuchin Nuns, Modernism in Palma and the Palma Monumental. Guided and organised and will give you the ideal opportunity to see most of the main sites.
Legend has it that there was once a Dragon living here - thought to be a reptile in the sewers - after eating some of the local residence he was eventually slain and the remains of this beast sit in the Diocesan Museum for all to see. Myth has it that there were witches on this island - possibly still are - they were kind or not depending on how they were treated - one man lost a hump and another ended up with two!
Celebrations and fiestas centre around the Catholic faith - the Three Kings, Jesus, Mary and many of the Saints - parades, dressing up and fireworks combine with music, laughter, food, wine and merriment - its a great atmosphere so make the most of it.
