Charming and comfortable in the best part of town. A short walk and you are soon at one of the ten wonders of the world - the Alhambra Palace - the home of Arabian Sultans who once ruled this land. It has taken centuries to construct this "heaven on earth" creation and inspiration was taken from the Koran who depicted heaven to be gardens of running water and peace. Opposite the Palace is the Arabic Quarter made up of cobbled streets, ancient architecture and where you will find an abundance of handicrafts, arts, pottery and lace. Be sure to pop in to one of the authentic bars and try a few tapas.
Sacromonte, Flamenco and Gypsies are typical symbols of Andalucia - head for the caves of Sacromonte where you can enjoy Flamenco displays of dance and indulge in the local red wine. A host of fiestas take place throughout the year celebrating everything from Easter to Corpus Cristi and the Festival of Albaicin with a procession of horses, colour and life. Fireworks and music fill the air.
Granada is an important university town and one of the favourite places for students to congregate is along Calle Caldereria Nueva where you will find a Bohemian array of tea rooms - dimly lit with low tables and scatter cushions - many herbal teas to try and a truly relaxing arena - try it!
