Whatever time of year you choose to visit there is always something going on here - a wealth of festivals, events, parades and celebrations. From Easter to Corpus Christi in June and St John's Eve to the Virgen del Carmen in July, Romaneria in September and the all important Saint Michael's Day on 29th September - the Patron Saint of the town.

If you are a keen ballroom dancer then be here in October for the Spanish Ballroom Dancing Championships - attended by Mr and Mrs Banderas (Antonios parents), who actually won the competition a couple of years ago.

Many sports and activities are on offer here - from paragliding, water ski-ing, windsurfing and pedal boats to golfing - there are several courses close by, walking along the beautiful coastline and visiting the Aquapark where you will find 30 rides including the daredevil Kamikaze chute.

There's an Equestrian Show with displays of some of the finest horsemanship in the world and be sure to take the children to Sea Life where they can have a hands on educational experience and hold Star Fish and Crabs.

Relaxed and leisurely shopping can be enjoyed around the pedestrianised area of Calle San Miguel and be sure to treat yourself to the Lladro and Swaroski crystal.

Gorgeous gardens and peaceful parks to meander in and there are three forests close by where you can picnic and relax in the shade - blissful.
