 Malaga is the heart centre for celebrations, festivals, processions, fireworks, exhibitions and generally having a lively social scene. Trendy bars and cafes where you can sit and enjoy a cool drink or a coffee and watch the world go by. Gardens and parks where you can stroll, delight in the exotic flowers and botanical gardens can be found at El Parque and Concepcion.
Museums and churches are a plenty paying tribute to the art world and history of Andalucia and the city. The Cathedral dates back centuries and was once the Mosque - rejoice in the wood carvings, sculptures and works by Pedro de Mena. Be sure to climb up to Alcazabar - the Arabian fortress where you can view the splendid landscaped gardens, fountains and the Roman ruins of the amphitheatre. Continue a little further and you will come to Castillo del Gilbralfaro - the original Phoenician lighthouse.
Beach life is a plenty here with several resorts and beaches all along this coastline. Spend time soaking up the sunshine, splashing in the ocean and recharging your batteries.
The market is great for browsing and meandering - very well organised and spaced out and clean - lots to see - fresh produce, gifts, stalls of every nature - leather, bags, belts, lace, tablecloths, olives, cheeses and jewellery.
Take the chance of seeing a Flamenco Show or spend time with friends at a Jazz Club - pleasant evening entertainment with a glass or two of your favourite tipple.
