Take time to visit the museums and churches and the Cathedral which was once a Mosque and displays beautiful wood carvings, sculptures and art work. Climb up to Alcazabar the Arabian Fortress where you can marvel at the landscaped gardens, bubbling fountains and enjoy magnificent views from the terraces. At the entrance you will see the ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre and a little higher up you arrive at Castillo del Gilbralfaro the once Phoenician lighthouse. Beach life is a plenty along this coastline and days spent on the golden sands, splashing in the ocean and simply recharging your batteries are a wonderful way to relax.

Festivals, celebrations, processions, carnivals, music and laughter fill the air and there's always some event on to watch.

Evenings can be spent with friends, picking at tapas and enjoying a cool drink or finding a restaurant serving the best fish dishes and then perhaps enjoying a Flamenco show or visiting a Jazz Club.

Bad stuff: no information in room about restaurant, breakfast times, hotel services

Overall: Great position, lovely rooms, pleasant bar. Didn't try breakfast as we ate so late we didn't need any! Didn't eat in the restaurant but menu looked good. Hotel was quite quiet as we stayed Monday & tues in Feb - not really high season

Good stuff: Central location, good quality professional and helpful staff with good English.

Bad stuff: Initially offered a very poor room (no outside window), but this was changed without difficulty.

Overall: It would have been useful to have more specific information about taxi access as we arrived with a lot of luggage and a taxi driver who refused to drop us near to the hotel (which is in a pedestrian zone). However, having stayed overnight twice, the room we had each time was reasonably sized and comfortable (no safe in the second room though). The rooms generally are fine with good sized bathrooms (although a little tired). Comfortable rather than luxurious. Very good reception staff who are helpful and efficient, plus the porters were also pleasant and helpful.
