The Cathedral is built around the original Mezquita Mosque - built by the Arabs and so beautiful that the Romans decided to leave it intact allowing generations to enjoy its amazing architecture. Standing right in the centre of the city and surrounded by the old Jewish and Moorish quarters. Tiny streets filled with artisan shops, speciality foods and an abundance of ceramics, hats, guitars, lace, silverware, jewellery and leather work.
Fiestas, festivals and flamenco are all part of the culture here and there are two places where you can sit, relax and be entertained by dancers of this traditional style - Tablao Cardenal and La Buleria.
The River Guadalquivir runs through the city and if you walk over the Roman Bridge, past the Moorish waterwheels to the other side you can enjoy panoramic views across the city.
