The main town is a place of that is largely centred around the main square of Alfons III - filled with restaurants, bars and cafes and shady places to sit under the trees. Its a central meeting point and the place to have that relaxing drink or coffee and just soak up the sunshine. There's a rather unique Windmill which is now used as the Tourist Information Office - so be sure to check in there and see what the current events and festivals are. There's always something going on - any excuse for a celebration, parade or procession. Throughout the year there's fancy dress, bonfires, music, dance, horse dressage and wooden horses too, feasting and enjoying life in general. Take part in the laughter and joy.
Be sure to sample the Mahon Gin - brought here by the British and has remained every since. There's a distillery - Xoriguer where you can see the whole process and do some sampling if you so desire.
The centre of the capital is where you will find Es Freginal Park and where you can watch the summer time Jazz Festival.
