City Park Nicaragua Barcelona C/ Nicaragua, 47
A short stroll and you are soon at the main tube stop where you can either head down to Plaza de Espanya and there enjoy the Museum of Art, take the escalator up to Montjuic where you will be rewarded with panoramic views across the city and sea, visit the Olympic Stadium, Spanish Village - a complex that pays tribute to all the different villages of Spain and the home of the fairground - great for the family and in the evenings there are fabulous fountain displays blended with colour and music to produce a magical show at the Plaza de Carles Buiges - completing a truly perfect day.
An alternative would be to go to Plaza de Catalunya where you can do some serious shopping at El Corte Ingles department store, visit the beautiful boutiques along Las Ramblas, have a leisurely lunch in one of the many bars serving tapas, boccadillos (Spanish sandwiches) and cool drinks. The Avenue is a place to promenade, pose and watch the beautiful people go by. Fabulous flower stalls, bird sellers and kiosks all harmonise in this ancient part of the city - the amazing Liceo Opera House and the Gothic Quarter with its cathedral, Kings Square, Bishops Palace and Museum of Picasso's fine works are all in this area.
Golden sandy beaches, the Olympic village and Barceloneta are all in the port area and form a unique identity of their own.
