Caledonian Barcelona Gran Vía Corts Catalanes, 574 Online Booking
Start the day with breakfast in our pleasant dining room and then venture out toward Plaza de Catalunya. Next to the square you will find our famous department store - El Corte Ingles where there are many floors of delightful gifts, perfumes, jewellery, clothing and fashion as well as household items.
Cross the road and you are in Las Ramblas - the tree lined avenue filled with flowers, bird sellers, cafes serving morning coffee and lunchtime tapas and cool drinks. Shady seating areas and on the outer edges a host of beautiful boutiques, glitzy jewellers and gift stores.
Half way down you come to the Gothic Quarter with its Cathedral, Cloisters Gardens with Palm Trees and Magnolias and the Kings Plaza surrounded by ancient architecture and close by the famous Picasso's Gallery displaying some of his finest works.
Head through to the other side and eventually you will come to the Municipal Park, Modern Art Museum and the Zoo.
Barcelona hosted the Olympics in 1992 and since then has undergone massive improvements - the Olympic Village, golden beaches and Barceloneta complex with cafe bars, fabulous views across the port area and its exhibition centres.
For a great family day out - explore Montjuic - the Mount of Jews where you will find the fairground, Olympic Stadium, Spanish Village and splendid views across the city and sea.
