Staying in our typically styled house dating back to the 19th century puts you in touch with some of the history and mystery of this amazing part of Spain. Moors, Phoenicians, Christians, Greek and Romans have all played a part in forming this ancient and highly interesting city.
Probably the most important starting point is the gastronomic delights that you can try whilst here - olives, spicy meats, marinaded fish, snails in a tasty sauce, chick pea hot pot and if you feeling especially adventurous bull tail ragout washed down with some Jerez (sherry) or one of the local wines. Tapas is part of Spain's tapestry - small dishes of taste and eloquence that you simply pick at with a fork or toothpick - slowly and chat about philosophy and socialise with family and friends.
The heat will dictate how much you see and do in a day but there are many monuments, museums, churches and monasteries all steeped in history and secrets of bygone days. Museums pay tribute to Art, Archaeology, Bullfighting, Navigation and the Army. Monuments include the Cathedral dating back to Gothic times, with Roman influence and Flemish glasswork. Visit the Reales Alcazares - an Arabic style palace and where you can enjoy summertime concerts.
Fiestas and festivals, music and laughter fill the air.
