A short distance from one of the most famous and spectacular sites in the city - La Sagrada Familia - the cathedral designed by Gaudi is estimated to take 200 years to complete. Climb one of the steeples to enjoy super views across the city. Close by you will find the bullring and Plaza de Glories and from these sites you can get to Arc de Triomphe. Walk down Lluis Companys and you will come to the Municipal park, Museum of Modern Art and the Zoo.
Fabulous city life includes golden beaches down by the Olympic Village where you can soak up the sunshine, splash in the sea and revive and refresh mind, body and soul. Walk around Barceloneta, enjoy a leisurely lunch and then perhaps view the exhibition centres including Emax - the first Virtual Reality Cinema in Europe.
The Statue of Christopher Columbus looks out over the port area and sits at the entrance to Las Ramblas - this is the tree lined avenue filled with flowers, birds, kiosks, cafe bars serving Tapas and cool drinks and is also where you will find the Gothic Quarter with its ancient architecture, Kings Plaza and Picasso's Museum.
There is a very helpful Tourist Information Office close to the Opera House - Liceo - on Las Ramblas who will tell you about the local events and festivals taking place.
