Excellent location for accessing all the sites and social scene in Palma. There are some excellent shops here - boutiques, fine fashions, perfumes, gifts, accessories and jewellery stores. Speciality food shops and for those who love a bit of hustle and bustle be sure to visit the markets on market day - the early morning market is for the fish - The Llotja del Peix. The Mercat Artesanal is the lively craft market which happens on Placa Major all through the year - crafts, arty work and hand made jewellery as well as leather goods, paintings, unusual gifts and hats are just some of the things you can buy here. Its a colourful and fun day with plenty of cool drinks, food snacks and a happy atmosphere.
There is an open minded social scene here with the gay community centring around the El Terreno where you will find many bars and clubs and good restaurants too. If you prefer to sit and be entertained then there's a whole host of theatre, ballet, exhibitions, festivals and concerts to enjoy.
Take advantage of doing some of the organised tours to see the main sites - there are half a dozen excellent choices - The City and the Sea; The Jewish Quarter; Convent of the Capuchin Nuns; Modernism in Palma and Palma Monumental - all organised by the City Council.
Beware the Dragon and mindful of any Witches and stories relating to either - myth and legend, parties and festivals and as much sunshine as you can handle.
