Once a small picturesque village, then a booming holiday resort, this town's appearance now occupies a happy medium between the two. Still hugely popular with families and revellers, it has drawn inspiration from its roots to evolve into a scenic paradise. More than 1,000 species of trees have been planted in the town, from magnolias to banana plants, to colourful rose beds and orange trees. The sight most come to see however, is of course the gorgeous 6 mile stretch of sandy beach, which lies at the centre of the Costa del Sol. There's more to do here than just soak up the sun as well, with a variety of watersports, including: paragliding, windsurfing, pedal boating and water skiing. There's great food just a stone's throw away from the beach with many great restaurants and cafes lining the shore. Make sure you sample the delicious fried fish at least once, as you pick and choose between the available cuisine from all over the world. The attractions don't stop within the town itself though. Just past the outskirts, you'll discover three separate forests with fresh water springs and barbeque areas. Each one serves as a perfect cooling retreat from the hot sun down by the sea and in the town.
