Seville Travel Guide

Seville, or Sevilla, is the capital of Andalusia and the largest city in southern Spain. Its rich history is full of many cultures from many reigns. Every district, every street and every building has an individual look plucked from this past. Colour is everywhere; pinks and reds are common choices for a facade and the famous orange trees are ubiquitous.

Attractions

Architectural marvels are equally prevalent. Their grandiose nature means you'll have no trouble spotting them. A trip to the Cathedral and Giralda (the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, and the city's defining symbol) is a great way to start. You'll also want to check out the Tower of Gold; the Fine Arts Museum; Lebrija Palace (conveniently located in the shopping district). Alos here you will find the ruins of Italica, which is the birthplace of Roman emperors Trajan and Hadrian.

Festivals

With all this and more in their city, it's no wonder that Sevillians love to celebrate. There are a number of festivals, but the most well known are those of Semana Santa (Holy Week) and the April Fair. The age-old processions of the former and the colourful flamenco dancing of the fair are great events to both experience and to savour - collectively managing to enliven this vibrant city even further!
